Black is not a colour

Tuesday, April 25th, 2006

Something is irritating me.

ISH.

If you have noticed, my past few blog entries have been written in boring black (just like this one), compared to my earlier ones which were multi-coloured.

Have no idea what happened to my friendster blog Font COLOUR function, everytime i click on it, using firefox or Internet Explorer, my own computer or my faculty lab computer, the button doesn’t WORK.

sheesh. i can’t colour my blog. sheesh.

is this only happening to me or are the rest of the friendster bloggers suffering too?

The Celebration

Celebrating Easter in Penang was GREAT. It felt like home. (Duh! it is home!) Remembering that Christ died but is now alive gives Hope and Certainty in uncertainty.

All of it is best described in this verse.

Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives, all fear is gone,
Because I know, I KNOW He holds the future,
My life is worth the living, Just because He lives..!

Living up to my life’s worth,
MeL

p/s: Happy Birthday Dad! =) Me dad is 49 this year =D

The Pearl of the Orient, My Home.

Nothing better than being home. =)

The purpose of my trip down to Penang was primarily to celebrate my grandma’s birthday. (truth be told, I have no idea how old she is this year, MUST go find out). For SOME reason or another, the supposedly "surprise" dinner celebration didn’t work out cos my grandma wasn’t around or something. haha…

Anyhow, i totally enjoyed myself back home, though it was only a day and a half long.

  •     Dim Sum with my other grandparents.
  •     Hair cut and treatment. Short of dyeing my hair =P $$
  •    Changed watch battery. (not like i can’t do it in KL but the watch was in Pg maaaa..)
  •     AND the HIGHLIGHT of this trip back was the Penang Floorball League, Final match. Contact vs. Blazing Eagles.

I was, of course, rooting for Contact, most of the players are from my church. And they played WELL!! It was a close match, but Blazing Eagles undoubtedly proved to be the deserving champions of the league.

Cheering for Contact was so fun. haha. *SCREAM SCREAM SCREAM*  Team spirit among players and cheer-ers was definately there.

From left: Wai Wai (Goalkeeper), Uncle David, Henry (great defence), Sarah, Ps Ed, Melisa, Penny (Team Leader), i-not-sure-who, Weang Honn and Brian (excellent shooter!) I missed out someone on the left, might be King Yi.

Well done, Contact! gosh, I miss floorball. hehe.

The unexpected mole

Wednesday, April 5th, 2006

I was taking a bath just the other day, (just like every other day, in case you were wondering) and i caught a glimpse of my reflection in the mirror. Nothing unusual, the same old me, EXCEPT.. "hey… that’s new.." I saw that I had miraculously grown a mole on my face. It was quite a regular-sized mole, brown in colour, situated just below my lips, at the bottom right corner. "hmm… funny…." I leaned closer to the mirror to get a better look.

Then I remembered I was eating chocolate about an hour ago…

Haha, assignment stress. Decided to squeeze out some non-fictional creative juice. If you get what i mean….

Kids make me smile

Sunday, April 2nd, 2006

I love kids. They have that rare innocence that most of us can’t go back to. That was why I was so excited when the CoUZ(College United Zone) Leaders and Core Leaders went to Prima Selayang and brought a bus-load of kids to the Smart Kids Education Fair at PWTC last Saturday.

The kids were adorable and bubbly, they’d run to you, wanna hold your hand and stare up into your eyes and smile. ah… It was an experience. I had hands-on experience of being a ‘mother’ for a day. Under our TLC (Faye and I), we took 6 kids around the very, very crowded fair. There were kids EVERYWHERE!

There were so many things happening simultenously. There were clowns sculpturing countless baloons with children waiting patiently and in awe. There were singing and story-telling competitions. There were games of all sorts. Candy stores, Food stalls, Colouring contests, Pizza eating competitions(courtesy of Domino’s Pizza) and many many more. Basically, it was a massive organised mayhem.

But the children enjoyed it. So did I.

Let me share some of my glimpses of parenthood.

Glimpse 1 of parenthood:
I was constantly making head counts, not wanting to lose any of the kids, especially when they were not mine, but under my care. (but then again, if they were mine, I’d probably make more effort not to lose them too.)

Glimpse 2 of parenthood:
The other thing I was constantly doing was waiting for the kids to finish playing. We went to this inflated playhouse where the kids were jumping up and down for at least 10 minutes.*wait* They painted a Tshirt for charity. *wait* Played with toys. *wait* Drew on chalk board. *wait* Now I know why my dad sometimes used to get irritated when we were at fairs like these when we were young. IT’S TIRING! But even now, my dad still waits for us when we(my mom, sis and i) go shopping. Haha. He likes Mid Valley cos they have chairs everywhere. Hahaha.

Glimpse 3 of parenthood:
I said to myself, "I think I’ll never bring my kids (if i do have any next time) to a place like this." I was EXHAUSTED. Was thinking again, "Would I wanna let my kids miss out on an experience like that? playing and learning while enjoying themselves? like being in a HUGE playhouse?" No, i don’t think i  would forgo an experience like that just because it saps my energy, no. In fact, it would be an "investment" of some sort, rite?

Ah…. the "joys" of parenthood. We’ll see when the time comes, eh?

So this post will be especially dedicated to my parents, who have so patiently nurtured us, giving us all we deserved and also giving to the best of their ability. Truly, I don’t think my sis and I have missed out on much.
